Visiting the outdoor locations of Emmerdale or Emmerdale Farm as it used to be is now possible.

The original outdoor sets are located in the small village of Arncliffe in North Yorkshire. This was changed early on in Emmerdale's history when the town became known and was flooded by visitors wanting to catch a glimpse of their favourite character. The Falcon Hotel was used as the outdoor shots for The Woolpack.
The filming was then moved to Esholt which was used for over 20 years. Esholt was the town where almost every outdoor shot was filmed including the use of a pub known to you as The Woolpack. In the late 80's and early 90's a purpose built set was constructed, because Emmerdale was becoming a more popular soap, this is now just outside of Harrogate in North Yorkshire. The original settings in Esholt are still popular with fans today, even thought it has not been used for nearly 20 years.

If you are thinking of visiting some of the Emmerdale outside areas, it's also good to know that the new outdoor set is located very near to Harewood House, one of Yorkshire most famous attractions, and well worth a visit. Also bare in mind that the new Emmerdale set could be off limits not that it's on private land.
